 CalView Gallery

The Gallery contains snapshots of images and technologies provided by CalView.  Click on a thumbnail image to open a larger image in a new window.

The features highlighted in the Gallery include GIS Services, a Promotional Poster and Preview Images.

GIS Services

To access online mapping use GIS Services. In this Gallery we have assembled some representative screens that appear in the online mapping programs provided.

Maplicity is the primary online map viewer and analysis tool. Click on the thumbnail  below to display Maplicity's startup screen.

Launch Maplicity Extension to do advanced image analysis functions like band manipulation. After launching Maplicity Extension, this screen is the first seen.

After running band manipulation to do a 4-3-2 band analysis inside Maplicity Extension, this false-color image appears.

The CaSIL Mapsurfer Interface, with the University of Minnesota Mapserver as its backend, is another Calview online viewer.  It is faster to navigate through imagery with Mapsurfer, but Maplicity is the only online image analysis tool on the CalView site. Click on the thumbnail below to display Mapsurfer's screen.

Promotional Poster

To best convey the purpose and mission of the CalView project, we've created the following promotional poster, provided in two different sizes; clicking on the top thumbnail image retrieves the regular sized poster (~1.3Mb), while clicking on the bottom thumbnail image retrieves the full size poster (5Mb).

Preview Images

Since the CalView images are rather large (they are in GeoTiff format), we've created preview images for the composite images stored in the CalView data repository, to help you get a better sense of what the downloaded images look like.

The following two images show a CalView scene over the San Francisco Bay Area (Path = 44, Row = 34). The top image is a true-color composite image (bands 30-20-10), whereas the bottom image is a false-color composite image (bands 40-50-70).
